How to use ChatGPT to level up your Marketing

Since the release of ChatGPT and its subsequent take-over of every curious marketeer's mind, there have been huge leaps in the way people use AI in their daily lives. From cooking recipes to crafting entire content strategies, the potential seems to be truly limitless.

It's why I've attended a workshop hosted by ChatGPT expert Erik van der Veen and learned all about its most innovative use cases. Here are some of the best ones to level up your marketing:

Proof-reading your copy

Even the most helpful colleagues won't always notice some of the tiny mistakes your copy might have. From style mistakes to outright grammar errors — it's better to just leave them out if possible.

ChatGPT is literally trained to understand and emulate human language. That's why it's no surprise to read that it's excellent at proofreading or even translating some of your most creative texts.

Just copy-paste your text into ChatGPT and ask it to proofread it based on your ideal speaking tone, language, intention, (in)formality, and for shorter alternatives if possible (van der Veen, 2023).

Finding different content angles

Content is a never-ending activity, but creativity tends to be somewhat limited for most of us who have to make it. The problem is when this translates into plain pieces of content. They won't stand out on your audience's timeline, and your work will essentially be pointless.

Why not turn 1 piece of creative genius into a near-infinite source of inspiration?

That's where ChatGPT can help you out big-time. Put in your best-performing pieces of content and ask ChatGPT to provide you with a table of different angles, emotions, and formats (van der Veen, 2023).

Analysing and improving workflows

Ever heard of Solomon's Paradox? It means that it's easier to give advice to other people than to the situation in which you currently find yourself.

That's exactly why having a second opinion on your workflow can help you out the most. Because you're constantly submerged in it, you can hardly see the flaws of your workflow. And ChatGPT can offer you a fresh perspective on it.

Simply upload your visual workflow (from Zapier or Miro) and ask ChatGPT to analyse it for potential improvements, mistakes, and automations. Voilà, saved you a couple of hours this month. Easy, huh?

Creating customer personas

In the days before the internet, you'd have to grab a notebook plus a pencil and go about interviewing people on the streets to do customer research. That's where the term 'field research' comes from. But hey? That costs energy, and time.

Using ChatGPT to generate a draft of your customer persona saves you loads of effort while also providing a clearer image of what you'd like to know about your customers.

To do this, simply describe your ICP and ask about the standard psychographic and demographic questions to get an overall image of what motivates them.

Huge-scale data analytics

Data scientists possess an incredibly valuable set of knowledge and skills, which are currently in low supply (unless you've got a lofty budget). That's why it's a relief to know that you can use ChatGPT to analyse and find patterns in data sets.

Simply upload the Excel file you'd like to learn more about, and prompt ChatGPT to find remarkable patterns that you as a marketer would find interesting.

Next up you'll get a list with patterns which would take most data scientists hours to find, with pretty reliable outcomes as well (van der Veen, 2023).
